Jabra SP700 Bluetooth headset March 13, 2009 Paullus (Staffordshire, UK) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I bought this because I kept forgetting or couldn't be bothered to wear my bluetooth earpiece. I won't operate my mobile while driving because I've seen the fatal consequences resulting from someone who did!
The Jabra arrived quickly and took about 45 minutes to charge out of the box connected to a USB port on my PC. It comes with a 12 volt car charger with a lead which has a standard USB male connector at one end but a custom connector for the headset at the other. It attaches neatly to the sun visor and is fairly unobtrusive. It connects to the phone quickly and recognised the voice tags recorded on my phone a Sony Ericsson C902 without need to re record them through the unit. Calls are clear and loud enough. The only dislike I have is when using voice dialling the beep to prompt you for a name is very very loud and I cringe while waiting for it. There is no need for this and it cannot be turned down. I particularly like the ability to divert the call through the car hi-fi speakers using the Jabra's FM transmitter.
I bought the unit on Feb 9th. It is switched on for about an hour a day and I haven't had to recharge it yet. The unit also switches itself off when disconnected from the phone after about ten minutes.
Altogether I'm completely satisfied with the Jabra SP700. I've even gone and bought another for my Wife. Unfortunately though we didn't realize that her brand new Samsung U900 Soul doesn't support voice dialling which I think in this day and age is pretty poor.
Best car handsfree I've ever used. Brilliant product. Looks good too. November 25, 2008 Christine Hammond (Manchester) 24 out of 25 found this review helpful
Brilliant product - tried hard to find a handsfree for my car for my iphone - someone recommended this and I couldn't have chosen better. Worked straight away paired automatically, provides spoken alerts, such as incoming call from number ******, etc. Can use FM transmitter to play itunes and callers voice through your car stereo, which I have heard is good but I haven't used this as my car is ipod prepared and to be honest the sound quality of the speaker on the unit allows me to hear the voice on the phone wonderfully, better than the Nokia or Sony Erricson sets I have used previously. People also say I am very easy to hear at the other end too, with no echos or background noise. Brilliant product, that I would recommend to anyone, it was cheapest here on Amazon too.
Absolutely Superb! Crystal Clear Sound & Compact Design! June 26, 2009 Barney Day (North Cornwall, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Just had this arrive today - paired with phone instantly (Sony Ericsson C905) and got it installed. Sun visor clip does the job fine (it's a bit flimsey but it holds it in position). The clip could also be removed and stuck the ceiling of the car with velcro strips if preferred. Charging cable (USB) is long enough to reach the socket as well.
The sound clarity is really good, I can hear the callers fine, and most importantly, THEY CAN HEAR ME "crystal clear", which my previous hands-free kits have struggled to achieve!
My only gripe is that the unit reads out the number of who's calling you, not the name, which is a bit unfortunate. There's no way (or at least I haven't found a way) to turn this feature off either, so unless you can memorise all your contact's numbers you won't know who's calling you!! :) Not really a problem but just a small issue.
Haven't used the FM transmitter although it's very easy to set up and seems like it'll work ok. More of a gimmick though I think!
If you want a budget hands free kit then look no further this is the one, I'm very happy with it, and thanks to Amazon for a great price on this and taking my old one back due to poor sound quality!!
A godsend for those that like music & are lazy April 29, 2009 Mr. Chris Brooks (Swindon, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product has just cut out all the cables and holders in my car! I used to have an IPod on a holder with a charger/fm transmitter also my phone holder with a charger and then my ear piece with yet another charger! All this resulted in lots of wires and lots of effort every time I dove anywhere. Now all I do is press one button for two seconds followed by one other and choose my music. The music automatically mutes when you have a phone call so yet another thing you no longer have to worry about.
Sound quality on a couple of test calls ranging from inner city to letting loose on a country road has proved that the mike is very good and the noise suppression software works.
This is a must have for any driver that has music on their mobiles and is too lazy to remember to put on your headset every time!!!!
FANTASTIC PRODUCT
Great quality, no messy wiring - good price May 29, 2009 R. Forsyth (England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had a few bluetooth earpieces in the past but really wanted something that you didn't have to wear once in the car.
In addition I frequently move between several cars and didn't want to have to either install wiring or have power leads flopping over the dash.
The Jabra SP700 fitted the bill perfectly and I've been really impressed with the quality - to the point where most callers can't tell you're using a phone within the car.
Battery life is equally impressive and has only needed a couple of charges since I've had it (8 weeks now).
The bluetooth range is also very good and seems to work from several metres away from the car (not always a good thing!)
Be warned if you are thinking of buying this to stream music with an iPhone - it won't. It's a technical limitation of the phone that requires additional hardware.
In summary an impressive piece of kit for relatively little outlay.
